Restore Title IX!
Title IX, the federal law responsible for skyrocketing sports participation among girls, is under attack again. On March 18, 2005, the U.S. Department of Education released a so-called "clarification" of Title IX that undermines the law and jeopardizes future sports opportunities for women and girls.

Shine Some Light on the Status of Girls' Sports

In many high schools in America, girls' teams still get the short end of the stick when it comes to athletics funding and facilities. How does you school stack up? Well, you might have a hard time finding out because schools are reluctant to share this data and the government doesn't collect it. Now there's a bill in Congress to make such data more available to parents, advocates, and girls themselves. Register your support!

Girls' Rights Campaign. In Spring, 2000 Girls Inc. launched a national public education campaign to help girls understand, value, and assert their basic rights, as outlined in our Girls' Bill of Rights. Be a part of the campaign by using tools to help the girl in your life exercise her rights.

Watch TV! Many television shows, news programs, or even commercials send harmful message about girls. Newspaper articles or ads can too. Don't like what you see? Use our Online Media Guide to contact your local stations and newspapers and set them straight.

Advocacy Statements. We have adopted a set of Advocacy Statements that spell out our stands on a range of issues affecting the rights and needs of girls. These statements are reviewed at every biennial meeting of the Girls Inc. National Council in light of current knowledge and needs. Read about Girls Inc.'s position on today's most pressing social issues.
